About the program:
Dayton Children's has more than 3,200 employees who come to work everyday to make a difference in the lives of the patients and their families. There are two employees that are unlike the rest...they have fur and four paws! Millie and Peppermint are the hospital's facility dogs who work alongside the Child Life team to provide individualized interventions to best met a child's needs. Whether it's lending a paw during a tough procedure, addressing pain without the use of medication, or being present to help lower anxiety in an unfamiliar environment, the facility dogs and their handlers partner together to ensure the patient and family feel comfortable and supported during their visit.
Your support matters!
Did you know that the Canine Copilot Program is fully funded by- generous donors in the Dayton community and beyond? Your support helps fund the cost for training, food, vet, grooming, programming, and overall well being of the dogs. Our goal is to continue to grow this program to impact more patients and families for many years to come.
